Vacancy Unit Manager, Airport
The unit manager, airport is responsible for improving airport processes and ensuring that the airport runs as smoothly as possible. Responsibilities include optimising passenger services and the efficient operation of runways, terminals and baggage handling.
The unit manager, airport is assigned to the directorate of transport, which oversees transport, infrastructure and airport processes, with emphasis on maintaining reliability, availability and security within the existing infrastructure. The directorate has responsibility for the airport and the harbour, where attention is paid to the essential security processes, as well as maintenance and infrastructural development with the future in mind.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Overall management and coordination of all airport activities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and safety procedures.
- Ensuring that the airport complies with national and international aviation regulations and standards.
- An important aspect of the role is to manage airport staff, including security staff, air traffic controllers, and ground staff.
- Coordinating contingency plans for potential crisis situations and ensuring regular maintenance and repairs to the airport facilities.
- Maintaining contact with the human environment and transport inspectorate regarding compliance with international regulations at the airport.
- Collaborating with airlines, government agencies and other stakeholders.
Specific Requirements:
- An HBO degree, preferably in airport management, transport, business administration or a similar field
- At least five years of management experience at an airport or in a similar field
- Knowledge of aviation laws and regulations, particularly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
- A good command of Dutch and English, both written and oral.
- Experience working in the Caribbean would be an asset.

- The ability to quickly identify problems and form a judgement based on facts
- Adept at switching between various activities
- Skilled at motivating colleagues and easily building strong working relationships
Terms of employment
This employee will be based in Statia. The position is temporary for a for a trial period of one year, with the prospect of a permanent appointment.
The salary scaling is equivalent to scale 11 on the salary scale, with a minimum of $3,922.38 and a maximum of $5,101.30 gross monthly, based on a 36-hour work week. This is in accordance with the salary table of the Statia Government dated 1 January 2023. Salary scaling is based on qualification and experience. In addition, this employee will receive a holiday allowance of 8.33% an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% of the annual income.
The successful candidate must provide a certificate of good conduct (VOG) and undergo a medical test for inclusion in the pension fund.
