Vacancy Economic Inspector
As Inspector for economic permits and licenses you are tasked with ensuring that external parties comply with all relevant economic laws and regulations and if necessary, the implementation of the necessary sanctions for non-compliance (as far as authorized to do so).
Your main responsibilities
- Follow-up on economic related licenses/permits to ensure compliance with the economic laws and regulations;
- Supervise and enforce on the following laws: Establishment BES, Lottery BES, Hazzard spijlen BES, Prijzen WET BES, APV, Ijkwet BES, Drank en Horeca Verordening, Verordeningen Personen Vervoer, among others;
- Inspect if businesses are in possession of (correct) permits;
- Provide information concerning the proper procedures to involved parties;
- Take preventive measures (within authority or according to agreements) by bringing about awareness on the various licenses/permits and the regulations surrounding them;
- Take repressive measures (within authority or according to agreements) in the case of observed irregularities or violations, counteracts the consequences of violations and informs the management or authorities involved within the given time limit;
- Inspects prices of certain goods in the local stores and ensure adequate pricing;
- Inspect weighing scales to ensure they are calibrated accordingly;
- Act as investigator (BavPOL’er) and draws up official reports in case of violations;
- Conduct Economic Development reports based on the services and prices that are presented to the public;
Job requirements
- MBO level 4 diploma in Economics, Commerce or similar;
- Knowledge of economic developments;
- At least 3 years' work experience in a similar position;
- General knowledge of the relevant procedures and legislation related to the economy.
Skills and Knowledge:
- English and Dutch speaking and – writing proficiency;
- Good decision-making skills;
- Ability to approach others in a respectable manner;
- Ability to clearly explain rules and regulations to others in a simplified manner;
- Economical, statistical and mathematical skills;
- Observation skills;
- Planning and surveying skills.
Terms of employment
The position is temporary to replace absent staff. The salary scaling for the position is equivalent to scale 8 on the salary scale, with a minimum of $2,697.18 to a maximum of $3,773.43 gross monthly, based on a 36-hour work week. However, being placed in start-up scale 6 or 7 (min. $2,124.98 and max. $3,401.49) is possible in the event of not fully complying with all requirements needed for the position. Salary scaling is based on qualification and experience.The salary information above is in accordance with the salary table of the Statia Government dated 12 March 2024. In addition, this employee will receive a holiday allowance of 8.33% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% of the annual income. The successful candidate must provide a certificate of good conduct (VOG) and undergo medical evaluation.
