Vacancy Director Economy, Nature and Infrastructure ( ENI )

As Director ENI, you oversee the Directorate of ENI. The Directorate of ENI works on economic development, the improvement of infrastructure and the maintenance of public space. Think, for example, of themes such as waste management, the development of agriculture and fisheries. The directorate also issues permits and supervises the enforcement of nature conservation. The common goal is to create economic opportunities through infrastructure development and conservation. When doing the work, the interests of residents, biodiversity and businesses are considered. In this way, the directorate is building a balanced and sustainable future for St. Eustatius together.  

Job description

As director of economy, nature and infrastructure, you make the difference. In this versatile environment, you know how to consider different stakeholders. Themes such as biodiversity, economic opportunities and improving infrastructure make you enthusiastic and offer a lot of variety. Towards a balanced, sustainable and self-reliant future.

Your main responsibilities

  • You contribute ideas about important issues in your line of work.
  • You set objectives in areas such as economy, spatial development and biodiversity, among others and investigate how those objectives will be achieved.
  • You provide leadership and direction to the directorate staff.
  • You work closely with the managers of the various units within your directorate which are: Unit Veterinary Services; Program and Policy; Unit Public Works and Services and Unit Licenses, Supervision and Enforcement.
  • You coordinate policy developments and their implementation.
  • You represent the Public Entity Sint Eustatius.
  • You form part of the management team.

Specific job requirements

  • Academic (WO) working and level of thinking preferably in an economic direction.
  • Extensive management experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of the government's policy and budget cycle and operations.

Required skills/abilities

You are environmentally aware, systematic and have a clear vision. You enjoy connecting with people. Furthermore, you can easily move between different political levels. You are strategic, a good negotiator and a people-oriented leader. In everything you do, you focus on a pleasant collaboration.

Working conditions

The salary, in accordance with scale 13, and for a 36-hour working week, is a minimum of $5,513.70 and a maximum of $6,881.73 gross per month. This is in accordance with the salary table of the Public Entity of St. Eustatius dated 12 March 2024. Grading depends on qualifications and experience.

You will receive a holiday allowance of 8.33% of the yearly income and an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% of the yearly income. A Certificate of Good Conduct is required, and a medical examination takes place for inclusion in the pension fund.
