Education is a priority on St. Eustatius. Every child should be given the opportunity to excel and it is the school’s task to guide students to achieve this.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science or OCW is dedicated to making sure everyone receives a proper education and can prepare themselves to be independent and responsible members of society.
The OCW has been responsible for this since October 10th, 2010. The schools are financed directly by the Dutch government and Caribbean Netherlands Education Laws have been in effect since August 1st, 2011.
This year St. Eustatius had to deal with the global pandemic. Schools were also affected. All school locations were closed for approximately 6 weeks however online learning was implemented.
This year tests and examinations in the senior secondary vocational education (MBO) continue as normally as possible in order to ensure that diplomas are obtained.
