Today, July 1st 2020, as we celebrate Emancipation from slavery,
we recognize the sacrifices made by our ancestors that facilitated
the freedom we enjoy today.
As we continue to forge ahead, we must embrace and celebrate the impact of their sacrifice, the beauty of their culture that has become part of our national identity, and the values of courage, resilience, perseverance and community that live on through us and will continue for generations to come.
Therefore, let us as Statian residents remain committed to building a just community where we can all benefit and live in peaceful coexistence regardless of social standing, ethnicity or geography. Let us work together to build a better, stronger and more prosperous St. Euststius for future generations.
