Start renovation of access road at Smoke Alley
The Public Entity of St. Eustatius would like to inform the public about the start of the renovation of the access road at Smoke Alley.
Phasing is necessary to work sequentially on parts of the road, by means of a half lane closure. Therefore, redirecting traffic is necessary. To ensure this goes as smoothly and safe as possible, portable traffic lights will be deployed and flagmen will be at the work site to direct the traffic.
The Directorate of ENI will commence with preparatory work and will proceed as follows;
- July 13th: Placing of road signs for the redirecting of traffic
- July 15th: Update to public on the Smoke Alley project
- July: 30th: Official groundbreaking for 1st section (other sections will follow at a later date)
Last minute changes in this timeline may occur. You will be updated if this is the case.
Arrangements have been made with supermarkets and other stakeholders for the transport of goods at intervals of 12 days.
Emergency vehicles and other services needing emergency access will always be allowed.
Once the actual work commences, traffic flow may be delayed for 20-30 minutes, this due to other works and pouring of concrete.
The Smoke Alley project should be finalized at the end of 2020.
The public is requested to respect the rules that will be put in place, to have patience and understanding for the inconveniences you may endure.
Vehicles and their occupants are passing at own risk on the worksite.
