Statia starts COVID-19 vaccination in 3 weeks
The COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Statia starts on the 22nd of February, 2021. During the period of one week the first doses of the Moderna vaccine will be given to the residents that have registered. The second dose will be given four weeks later. Residents that are vaccinated will not be required to go into quarantine when returning to Statia from abroad.
Due to a shortage of vaccines in the Netherlands, the Public Health Department will not receive sufficient vaccines for vaccinating the whole population of Statia at once. Vaccination will take place in phases as decided by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports in the Netherlands.
This means that Statia can order a limited amount of vaccines based on the actual number of persons that have registered. In addition, an estimated number of vaccines will be ordered, based on the number of additional persons the Public Health Department expects to register.
No guarantee
Up till now the Public Health Department has approximately 250 persons registered for the vaccination. If you are not registered, the Public Health Department cannot guarantee the availability of a vaccine for you. Due to the shortage in the Netherlands it is likely that there will be only two deliveries in the first half of 2021 (the first delivery in February and the second in March).
