Cultural Agenda for Statia
A delegation of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science plans to visit St. Eustatius on 26 and 27 October to discuss the cultural agenda for St. Eustatius.
The visit follows the signing of a culture covenant last month between State Secretary Gunay Uslu (Culture and Media) and the local governments of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba. In it, the parties agree that they will jointly take responsibility for the cultural infrastructure in the Caribbean Netherlands.
This will be done through cooperation in the field of cultural education, participation, investments in libraries and by improving the accessibility of cultural funds. Special attention is paid to the shared cultural heritage and the slavery past.
In the island culture agendas, the parties will have concrete action plans and goals. Local communities and culture makers will be involved in the preparation of the agendas.
