Commissioner Simmons attends Agricultural Congress in Curaçao
Recently appointed Island Commissioner Derrick Simmons is currently in Curaçao
where he’s attending an agricultural congress entitled Dutch Caribbean Visioning Process (DCVP). He heads a five member delegation to the event.
The congress, which is being attended by representatives from Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Saba, Statia and St. Maarten, is aimed at developing a collective approach towards the development of food security and sustainability in the Dutch Caribbean.
According to the commissioner, it is hoped that by finding common ground on the issue of food security, the various islands will combat the rising cost of food that result from import.
