Fathers in the Lead for UNICEF ‘Raising Our Future’ Campaign on Statia

UNICEF Netherlands announces the next phase of the ‘Raising Our Future’ campaign this November on Statia. In line with the recent campaign on positive parenting, the importance of fathers and male caregivers in the upbringing of children is being highlighted. By emphasising fatherhood, UNICEF, in collaboration with the Statia Government, deepens the dialogue around parenting and promotes the vital contribution of fathers to the well-being and future success of children.

It aims to highlight the common interests of parents and caregivers, encouraging more effective and positive parenting practices. Through this campaign, the children’s rights organisation empowers both male and female parents and caregivers, helping them become strong and confident as they join forces to create a better future for all children.

Positive Parenting Campaign

Topics covered by the campaign include positive parenting, quality time, positive discipline, and the shared interests that unite us as caregivers, along with the positive effects of a loving upbringing on the physical and mental health of children.

The campaign will feature mini-documentaries portraying local fathers, a storytelling academy for professionals and community members, and inspiration from the community shared through various channels. Through these activities, ‘Raising Our Future’ encourages conversations around parenting and all the responsibilities, challenges, and joys it brings. “We are very pleased with the collaboration with the Social Support Unit of the Statia Government in this campaign,” says Dirkje de Jong, project coordinator, “as they are already connecting with parents and caregivers through several programmes.”
