Vacancy Project Leader, Communication and Awareness
The project leader, communication and awareness is responsible for increasing knowledge and awareness of the goals of the Nature and Environment Policy Program (NEPP) to help strengthen community support for the projects that fall under NEPP.
This officer is assigned to NEPP and will be responsible for implementing the communication plan developed in conjunction with a communication task group comprising the national office for the Caribbean Netherlands, the ministry of agriculture, nature and food quality, GIS Statia, STENAPA, and the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive communication and awareness plan for Statia in collaboration with key stakeholders;
- Coordinate the communication calendar, objectives, and activities based on planning and current affairs;
- Implement and monitor the multi-annual communication plan;
- Participate in regular consultations on the implementation of nature and environmental policy;
- Report on the state of affairs regarding communication to the NEPP programme manager;
- Maintain and manage the communication budget, and expense administration, including risk management, monitoring, and evaluation.
Specific Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or business administration.
- Demonstrable ability in communication with an affinity for nature and environmental issues.
- Experience as a project leader in a multidisciplinary environment in the public sector will be an advantage.
- Insight into administrative relationships and knowledge of policy programmes and organisations.
- Possession of a driver's licence B.
- Critical, professional, and reliable, with strong negotiation skills.
- Proficient in both English and Dutch (preferred).
- Digital skills for working in a digital environment.
Terms of employment
The position is temporary for one year, with the prospect of extending for a second year. The salary scaling is equivalent to scale 8 on the salary scale, with a minimum of $2,697 and a maximum of $3,773 gross monthly, based on a 36-hour work week. Salary scaling is based on qualification and experience. In addition, this employee will receive a holiday allowance of 8.33 per cent and an end-of-year bonus of 8.33 per cent of the annual income.
The successful candidate must provide a certificate of good conduct (VOG) and undergo a medical for inclusion in the pension fund.
