The ProDemos Programme offers students practical learning experiences about governance, with local government officials playing a key role. The initiative encourages youth participation in politics through interactive sessions.
Trainers Granville Hassell and Marjani Humphreys have been appointed to lead the programme’s long-term implementation. Government Officials from Saba also attended, underlining a regional commitment to civic education.
As part of the initiative, a special training session was held at the Government Guesthouse, where teachers, the Executive council, the Island Council, and the Registrar’s Office took part in “Democracity,” a governance simulation game.
This programme follows an October 2024 agreement between ProDemos, the Public Entity of Sint Eustatius, and the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) to strengthen civic education. Running from 5–7 March 2025, the initiative ensures long-term impact through trained local facilitators.
