Discussions centred on the development of a participatory culture and heritage policy, alignment of the Culture Agenda, Action Agenda, Regional Deal, and the evaluation of local cultural initiatives, including the important role of culture coaches. Participants also explored opportunities for digitalisation and improving infrastructure to protect Statia’s valuable historical assets.
The programme included visits to significant heritage sites such as the Historical Foundation Museum, Fort Oranje, and the Public Library, as well as a cultural evening at the Honen Dalin Synagogue. Special attention was given to sites threatened by erosion and the need for restoration efforts.
These collaborative sessions represent a significant step towards safeguarding Statia’s cultural heritage for future generations while promoting community engagement and regional cooperation.
