Statia Day Celebrations

Statia Day, observed on 16th November, is a national holiday that honours the island’s rich culture and heritage, as well as its historical significance in recognising American independence.

The festivities begin four days prior to Statia Day, with vibrant celebrations in Oranjestad (Heart of Town). Each evening from 7:00pm, the streets come alive with stage performances featuring local, regional, and international acts.

During this festive period, Statia offers a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages. On Statia Day itself, families can enjoy traditional games such as ring toss, along with other fun-filled events. Local food vendors serve up a variety of delicious dishes, including popular soups like conch and dumplings, seafood chowders, barbecued delicacies, and more.

Statia Day is not only a celebration of the island’s heritage but also a time for the community to come together, share its unique flavours, and honour its vibrant traditions.
